April 2021 Round-Up: Vulnerability

This week concludes our month discussing vulnerability and goodness I feel invigorated, emotionally-drained, and ready to take on the WORLD. I’m sad to see this theme go, but vulnerability is such a huge part of our podcast so it won’t really go away! We had two exceptional guests this month, Nate Harper and Erica Hoff. They absolutely rocked our world and changed the way we view vulnerability, courage, and authenticity.

If you haven’t had a chance to listen to one of our four podcasts on vulnerability, head to the links below:

Vulnerability Episode 1: “Not Everyone Deserves Your Vulnerability” — To begin the month of vulnerability, Lara, Makena, and Mallory describe a few of their most nerve-wracking and courageous moments of openness. Makena discusses the first time she said "I love you" to a partner. Mallory recounts how she told one of her childhood best friends that she prayed every night. Lara explains how her most vulnerable moments are usually tied to an activity (like during a walk or crafting). The group gives advice on how to start flexing your vulnerability muscle in small, meaningful ways.

Vulnerability Episode 2: “Rehab, Renewed Spirituality, and Dating Lara with Nate Harper” — On this week's episode of F*ck Wellness, Lara and Makena bring on one of their close friends (also Lara's high school boyfriend), Nate Harper. The group talks about gendered stereotypes around vulnerability, the courage it takes to admit you were wrong, and Nate and Lara rehash their relationship after 6 years of reflection. Listen all the way to the end to hear Nate read Lara's senior yearbook letter to him on the pod (*cue tears*).

Vulnerability Episode 3: “F*ck Instagram Filters” — On this episode of F*ck Wellness, Lara, Mallory, and Makena unpack how vulnerability is represented on TikTok, Instagram, and social media in general. The group chats about filters, the vulnerability of gratitude, and pretty privilege. Makena talks about the loneliness she felt living alone after the Boulder shooting; Lara opens up about the recent suicide of one of her favorite IG/YouTube influencers, and Mallory talks about how Addison Rae perpetuates beauty norms.

Vulnerability Episode 4: “You Don’t Need to Have Your Sh*t Together with Erica Hoff” — On this week's episode of F*ck Wellness, Mallory and Makena chat with Erica Hoff, a yogi, activist, and world traveler, about the vulnerability of living an alternative, nomadic lifestyle. The group talks about the courage it takes to travel by yourself, the myth of "having it all," and the layers of social media vulnerability.
